Expositoral (providing) and explorative (discovering) methods
I can name principles of expositoral and explorative methods and can explain the possibilities with examples of learning with media.
Basic competency
1. know
A/82
This competence refers to the understanding between expositoric (providing) and explorative (discovering) teaching methods in the context of learning with media. Teachers should be able to explain the principles of these two approaches and to illustrate how they can be applied in media-based learning.
The choice between expositoral and explorative teaching methods depends on different factors such as the learning objectives, the subject and the needs of the SuS. An understanding of these principles makes it possible to develop effective teaching strategies and to develop learning activities with media that meet educational objectives.
Expositoric teaching methods are teacher-centric and focus on providing information and knowledge from teachers to SuS. In an expositorial approach, the teacher is the main source of knowledge, and the SuS are passive recipients of this knowledge. Examples of expositoral methods are lectures, presentations, textbooks and video lectures.
Explorative (discovering): Explorative teaching methods emphasize the active participation of the SuS in the learning process. The SuS are encouraged to discover independent knowledge, solve problems and understand relationships. Teachers often play the role of a mentor in this approach, while the SuS independently research, ask questions and think critically. Examples of explorative methods are group projects, research tasks, discussions and practical experiments.

In the field of “media(scientific)didactic competencies” in the sub-area “learning & learning”, the competencies are designed to explain the skills and skills they need in order to effectively and efficiently teach and learn with digital media. These competencies cover various aspects of the integration of digital media into the education process and emphasize the skills to plan digital teaching, to select learning content, to examine technical requirements, to formulate teaching objectives and to organize teaching-learning phases in time.
